tilting up a aermotor windmill
« on: April 21, 2010, 08:26:06 PM »
hi

I bought an old aeromotor waterpumper with 4 leg tower. It had been stored for
30 years in pieces.

has anyone tilted one up before? just wondering if the angle iron tower can
hadle the strain of tilting up without buckling? it's a 40 ft tower

thanks
gary

Gary,

I am new to this site and saw your post and it is possible to tilt one up, but before doing so I tack welded steel angle at the bottom and in an x from corner to corner. I also tack welded some chain on the "hinge" side because I didnt know how hard it would come down. I didnt pull it up I pushed up with the loader on a backhoe. It was very nerving because so much could go wrong but when it goes right it feels ole so gooooood! ;)
