AC or DC ?
« on: July 24, 2005, 05:56:01 PM »
It's a simple question but I feel will have a lot of right answers..... After looking and reading this post http://www.fieldlines.com/story/2005/7/24/155621/104 and the response by terry5732 -:

'Line loss is only an issue if you are trying to transmit DC long distance, merely transmit as AC and rectify AT battery.'

I was thinking is this true for low voltages less then 50 volts??  I ask this as surly when u 'transmit' Ac and then rectified at the end / battery storage then the return side of the wire will be in DC and the supply side of the wire will be in AC which  surly makes more of a mess and more of a loss then just transmitting in DC???

I am saying this only for low voltages!!!

Thanks Jon M
