Jerry: Question on Magnet location
« on: July 05, 2004, 09:55:41 PM »
Jerry: I got the magnets for the Disposal motor. Four poles. I wanted to use only the main windings now, one phase. Has 36 slots and I have neos 1/2" wide.

How do you place the magnets.

the stator is similar to your picture:

Thanks, Wilson

Hi Wilson

Sorry about the above post but if I respond to post a coment it will get scrubed and say I used to many words.

Now to the magnet ?

I've only used the old #29 WonderMagnet curved Neo in the Garbogen conversion.

Using these magnets creates a 3/4" space between magnets. I've done 6 pole furnace blower motors with 6 of the magnets with only 1/16" spacing between magnets.

This works very well. There are 36 slots and I belive you only will requier 1 slot between each pole. Expample, if you had just 4 curve magnets that could make up the entire circumfrance of the armature all they would need for spacing is 1 stator slot.

You should be able to as many North sise by side to make 1 pole as needed and as many South side by side as needed to make the next pole as long as you keep 1 slot between the N and S groups.

I don't know how many magnets per pole. As an expiriment I would place without gluing just to get a count. N,S,N,S and space then N,S,N,S just to see how many it takes to make just 1 pole. Do this all the way around the armature to find magnet count that will fit into the space available. Once you've got that figured out the proceed gluing 1 pole (let it setup) then the next ECT.

Its a real bear trying to get those like pole magnets glude tuching side by side.

This is why it is such a BUMMER to not have the curved NEOs any longer.

4 of them fit perfect and they were easy to glue and the matched the curve of the motor exact. Well those were the good old days?

I've yet to try the bar NEO and a square armature. I'll be using 4 1X2X1/2".

I've got all the stuff just need the time?  Good luck on yours.

I used to many words

Hi, Jerry,

I might now know what the problem is.

I once got the same message from the server.

For me the cure was to

to make the headline of

the message shorter.

I only deleted the last few words of the RE:

... - headline and it worked.

Guys;

I've seen that error when using a " in the headline, too.

Cheers.

You will get long message errors with several kinds of punctuation in the Title. A question mark '?' is one of them I would also suspect the colon ':' as another one.
