smart charger
« on: September 23, 2004, 05:16:26 PM »
hi all just  brought 2 new elecsol 110 amp hour batteries and want to  build a smart charger for them. anyone  suggest any chips to do this with. i have a 100 amp charger which is just a transformer and rectifier with a variac to adjust the output, i want to make a unit that will  plug into this so i dont have to keep checking that i am not overcharging. would be nice to have something that will start the genny when the batteries get to 50% discharge and switch off when they are fully charged. i have a  charge controller for my solar panels already but as winter is fast appoaching dont expect to get much from them. got the elecsols rather than trojans becourse of the 5 year garantee you get with the elecsols. want to build a amp hour meter as well some time but that can wait. then a data logger, but maybe finish the windmill first. so much fun so little time...
