Need help on electronic component
« on: January 13, 2005, 06:26:09 PM »
Hello!

As I'm not a electronics tech, I have some questiong about a circuit I would like to realize.

how to connect that thing like 2N2222A ( Q1 on shematics )

capacitor have 3 leads, how does it connect?

and how to connect diodes and zenner diodes and LED, where goes the longer lead?

What is the sign on Pin 5 of LM723

Thanks for your help!

Here is the circuit I would like to realize:

Pin 5 of LM723 is connected to the wiper of a 1k (1000 ohm) pot or trimmer.

Q1 is an NPN transistor the BASE of which is connected to pin 9 of LM 723 though a 10 k resistor. Where the small arrow is drawn is the EMITTER and the top lead is the COLLECTOR.

If  2n2222a is a plastic package the leads are usually EBC when looking at the flat face and reading the number.

If the transistor is in a metal can  EBC goes ccw from the tab when looking down on the can.

If you google the part no. you can usually find the pinout fairly quickly.

On diodes and zener diodes the bar on the drawing corrisponds to the cathode which is marked as the bar or ring on the part.

LED's have a flat on one side of the plastic case to designate the cathode or negative side.

Here is the data sheet I found for the transistor http://www.ligo.caltech.edu/~vsanni/ph5/Datasheets/BJT/2n2222.pdf

The transistors come in different packages so that data sheet may not be for the component you have. You can do a search on Google or the like using the part number and the words 'data sheet' and you should get the information on lead pin outs.

Regards the 3 legged capacito - never seen one so can't help you there.

I think your other questions have been answered adequately in the other post.

Good luck.

Are fixe capacitors with 2 leads. the daewing is the old way of showing electrolytic capacitors.  richard
