Solar panels are fused, Does my Wind Genny need fusing?
« on: January 29, 2005, 05:18:30 PM »
I have the solar panels fused at the mfgr specs.  But I am adding wind generators that produce various amps.  Doe I require fusing for the wind genny before it goes to my inverter?

Thanks ED

In my opnion all imputs/feeders need adequate fusing or MCB.

It's what stands, automatically between melted cables with possible fire and an orderly disconnect when things go wrong and they will.

In the case of a wind turbine keep the controller/dump load on the imput side.

YES on fuses.

When things go wrong, they often go wrong very quickly.  They don't call it a melt-down for nothing.  And right after the melt-down often comes the burn-down.  I've done some pretty cavalier things, even some bone-head stupid things in my day, going without fuses isn't one of them.

Good luck and have fun!
