I need advice on charge controller
« on: April 24, 2005, 03:22:28 PM »
I need a charge controller and have seen several plans here on the board.

Does anyone make a kit or relative expensive one?

The Oatley one works good but you will need change the 5 k pot for a 10k pot to bring the voltage down to 12.4v, or add diffrent resistors, and disreguard the making dummy loads instructions, just conect up whatever you are using  to dump the power. I am trying 2 of there 8a 15v Peltier devices $16 each

Good luck

Forrest Cook makes a nice little 20 amp charge controller kit. It has provisions on the circuit board for adding a diversion load.

I can recommend it.  I need to make a 24 volt version and Forrest was very helpful.  I didn't buy the kit as I most of the parts in my junk box.  I works great and is pumping power into my batteries as we speak!.
