F&P Electronic Decogging via Pulsing
« on: April 28, 2005, 06:50:31 AM »
Hi,

In a previous post it has been suggested that it has been done. Any cicuits out there which are based on a 555 timer to give an F&P a bit of a single pulse at 12V to kick it along??

As I do not have a black belt in electronics a specific circuit diagram would be appreciated rather than a circuit which has to be modified.

There may be a problem to have the pulse only appearing when the mill is stationery AND there is wind. I can handle the "when there is wind" requirement with a mercury switch or a reed switch sitting on a hinged bit of tin at right angles to the wind.

The "stationery" requirement may have to come from a zero reading of the output from the LM2917 freq. to voltage chip.

The wire size is 0.8mm and the resistance of one phase is 6.7 ohms. We do not wish to fry the phase!

Any ideas??

I threw down a circuit over a week ago now. 3 phase ring oscillator with 3 phase H-bridge driver. Sent it to BruceDownunder to try & build. Haven't heard back.

Maybe I should publish it on here for anyone to comment or play with.

Thanks for posts. Perhaps a single pulse on a single phase is good enough. An idea to simply check for the "prop not turning" condition is to check if a magnet on the prop shaft closes a reed switch or not.
