is there any thing usefull
« on: February 08, 2005, 03:21:49 AM »
I have an old 17" monator, is there any thing

use full in them, or throw it to the road??

also I have a 90v dc motor, 3 1/2"*6"

just wondering what size of prop would

be adequate to run such a motor.

I think i would be enough to run one light

and a 75watt fan motor for my blower on

my fire place..I now i would have to

run a diferent shaft to it for the load

the prop will have on it..

thanks

Mark

There are some useful parts in old monitors, mostly useful for repairing other old monitors. Unless your into electronics experimenting or want to go to the trouble of scrapping it for the Copper and Aluminum it's most useful purpose is probably as a doorstop.

The most usefull things that I've gotten from dead monitors is...

400 volt capaciter

Bridge rectifier

Degausing coil has a fair amount of magnet wire

The flyback transformer is sometimes fun to play with

Power socket where the power cord plugs in

this socket often has a Power conditioning circuit built in

Some stuff you can use, but not real usefull.

i've found quite a few high value, low voltage capacitors in both monitors and pc power supplies...

in a monitor i scrapped yesterday, i found a AN7805 5v regulator...

small generator + big cap bank + voltage regulator + white LEDs = home lighting

more on that later :)

have fun,

paul
