Need advice on coils
« on: February 21, 2005, 05:56:55 PM »
I am currently looking at rewiring a 5hp motor for another windgen.

I currently have a dual rotor design after Dan B's model and is working excellent. Thanks Dan for all your inspiration on this model.

This motor will require 2 sets of 12 magnets, using 2 magnets end to end to cover the entire coil.

My question is, would it really be worthwhile to use two magnets end to end.

Will this give me more power than say a shorter coil using only 1 magnet given the same amount of wraps on the coil, or am I just wasting money on the extra magnets.

I want to use #14 wire however I've decided that there is no way to get the number of windings using #14 that I was looking for.

Maybe by the longer coils and the fact that each coil will need 2 magnets maybe I will not need as many wraps on the coils to reach a given voltage per RPM

This is what I'm unsure about.

Thanks for any input on this.
