Brushless motor on CD player
« on: July 11, 2005, 12:48:40 PM »
My Grandaughter dropped her little pancake

CD player and it hasnt worked right since....

seemed to spin pretty easy ...ripped the top

part off it was in the way ....the turntable

makes a nice platform for experimental VAWTs

a bunch of AOL disks some McQuack coffee cups

hot glue gun and your ready for experiments...

one model don't work...press the realease button

and try another....

Anyway I was wondering how you hook it up

to get a current from it...how fast do they spin

as a motor? They are probably brushless?

http://www.powerditto.de/navigationengl.html - it's for motor conversions  but most of the methods are the same...

These people take tape drive motors and turn them into model airplane 500watt screamers or 20 minute flight time cruisers - The cheap lithium batteries performance curves make it possible, with the airflow from high speed flight keeping them cool.

I've got a bunch of zip-tape-drive motors I'm playing with - remember its the bearings and bell housing thats easily damaged, I've held off untill I get the tools together to press them on and off w/o damaging anything.

Since diameter is so small output will be low, and its hard NOT to saturate the coils trying to get more power out of them. They have a composite magnet material cast inside the bell that sould be removed and replace w/ Neos - but I think small rod magnets would make a stronger pulse w/o saturating the neighboring teeny coils then the small plate style they use in motors...

Oops - Some of the site has translations, some doesn't. If you're not fluent in german paste the link in here for almost legible translations :)
