C-40 Xantrax controler
« on: July 29, 2005, 01:01:33 AM »
I was talking to a sales rep and he said a C-40 would work, except when and if it fails, my house will catch on fire. He said I sould get a controler maid just for wind turbines. I am tring to control my 1500 watt turbine. Whats a safe way to do this? Is there a way to use the C-40 and have a safty if it fails?

1) Burn down the house? Possible but unlikely. Anything electrical will fail sooner

or later but Trace puts out a pretty good product.

  1. Hook 2 C-40's to the system, to different diversion loads.
  2. Keep an eye on the system during those (rare for me) times you are in danger

of over-charging your batteries.

If you are mounting this in your house some where... mount a fire proof sheet rock material ( they sell it for stoves ) on 1 1/2 vertical wood strips (to allow air flow behind it) to your wall, then mount the C-40 to the fireproof material. This way your controller can turn white hot, and it's still not going to get your wall hot.

Use adequate to large wiring properly fused and your wire will never get hot before blowing a fuse.
