load testing
« on: June 06, 2006, 12:16:56 AM »
Hello, I need a cheap, easy  way to test the output of a F&P smart drive rectified to DC driven by hydro. I'm hoping for 500 watts. Has tested to spec open voltage. Thanks for any suggestions.

Try light bulbs. Remeber resistance of light bulb changes with temperature of the filament.

Been there, done that. Read my diary.

I used jug elements in a bucket of water.

we have a dyno. tester that applys a load to electric motors up to 800 hp.. we prime move a gen. then load gen with salt water tank, after lots of testing we found 36oz. of salt per 50 gal.of water worked best. you could break that down to say 5 gal. of water & use. that should work good for you
