Hi All,
I am looking into adding solar to my 12 Volt battery based wind system and connect the combined output to a grid inverter, however I do not want to spend mega bucks on several panels just yet.
My wind turbine only generates max of 8 amps into 12 V and therefore is not suitable for direct connection to Grid Inverters, plus the fact I am in an turbulent urban low wind area. I do not want to waste this power which at the moment is just used to power some garden night lights.
I plan to get a Wind Master inverter which operates from 35V to 150V DC and just 2 12 V solar panels for now (40 or 80Watt each)
Now here is the question.
Can I hook up the battery in series with the panels (with limiting resistor and blocking diodes, fuses of cause) to obtain sufficent voltage to get the grid inverter to operate.
I plan to over a period of time invest in more panels when I can afford them.
The other alternative is to leave the turbine as a garden ornament and go for a Sun Master with the advantages of MPPT and just save up until I can get enough panels to drive it.
