Neat idea, Freeplay energy missed a trick there, uses a similar looking alternator though.

I would imagine the gearing would be noisy and become annoying on a quite stroll in the park.

I thought you were referring to this gizmo. A backpack that oscillates on walking motion to generate electricity.


Just think, wear the braces and the backpack...then find a way to get electricity from pumping your arms, and you could generate some power! :p


Now we just have to get people out of their cars and off their sofas to actually walk!

Might be useful for exploring caves as 7 watts should power LEDs nicely.  I wonder if that would be enough power to concentrate the air when climbing Mt. Everest.  Well, maybe solar would be more reliable.  Still.....
