Power Inverter
« on: May 19, 2008, 11:29:22 AM »
   Hello all

  I have a 400 watt inverter and a 750 watt inverter run off a 12 volt system. the 400 work okay but dosent have the power need.

  The 750 watt inverter would work just fine if it didn't have the voltage/wattage display on it. Witch is on all the time ware

in turn uses power off the battery even when i am not using power.

   My question is any body Know want Good Inverter is out there

That i can Hard wire, only comes on when power is needed and may have remote with it. I do Know some inverters have remotes and can be hard wired,, But i like to see all the above. and yes i have been looking and researching. Xantrex, Outback, etc. Just not sure what in good for under $500.00

     Thanks for your time Tom T.

Tom;

I have my doubts that display is that big of a load.

You could turn the inverter off and on of course by disconnecting the battery power via a switch.

It is also possible you can simply unplug the display.

More detail would get more help but I think you are worrying about a few milliamps and if you are that close to the edge you need to rethink the system sizing. The idle current draw is far more important than display current draw.

I think you are over thinking it, but without specific information it is all speculation.

How about adding a remote?

It is not possible with the 750W I figure you have, but it would be with 'normal' inverters.
