injection line heaters

hi guys.

i read some where that someone made his own injection line heaters out of ceramic beads from a craft store, with nichrome wire running through them.

reason why i'm asking is that i use 110v heater on my lister generator and it would be nice to make my own for the 24v d/c system that i have. also i run my truck on veggy oil and the last one's i bought. they didn't use the ceramic beads and i had trouble with them burning through the casing had for them.

ceramic beads would eliminate the problem of the nichrome wire burning through.

if some one could put me on to some info it would be greatly appreciated.

dont know but just googled injection line heaters and found this

Completely 100% useless.

A few watts of heat will NOT affect the temperature of the injected fuel as this depends on the temperatue of the injector - which depends on the temperature of the (pre) combustion chamber - which depends on the temperature of the huge heatsink that is your engine.

Yep, this is why many people running WVO will use a dual fuel setup with real diesel for start-up.  The injector head has a very good thermal connection to the engine block.  If it is cold, the injector is going to be cold.  It would take some major surgery to isolate the injector head and when the engine came up to temperature, you'd sure miss all that free heat for your fuel.  Maybe use a heat pipe?  for it's thermal diode effect?  Too complicated.

i have my lister set up thru a plate exchanger and then it is tied int the wood boiler to help heat the house when it runs. so prior to wanting it running i flip a valve and a switch and run hot water backwards and heat the lister. 15 minutes and she is toasty warm around 150 degrees and starts great.

I did pick up a glowplug assembly from www.generatorsales.com but havent installed it yet
