Has anyone made a generator from RC motors?

Would it be a bad idea to try?

edit for clarity; I mean mating an RC gas engine to an RC electric motor.

I think it would be a neat project if only for the "Look what I did" points.

A Cox .049cc cell phone charger would be ultra-cool in my book!

I wonder what some of those electric RC motors could put out for power.... hmmm...

I use to have a Nitro REVO 3.3... Wish I never got rid of it... I never got into brushless... May give it a whirl..

there was a design being tossed about in #otherpower irc about a methane powered computer chair using a cox .049 engine but the caster beans you gotta eat to keep the thing lubricated would be really hard on the digestion.  ;D

They do have some pretty high-power motors now. I was lookin' at a cheap one earlier that was over 1kw.

I think this idea goes in my "eventually" bin but I'd love to see it done. later
