I think somewhere in there there's some link to a set of plans. Most of the stuff Ive seen on rotary valves is quite diverse, its an area of development thats quite large.

  Green-- as I said before, only built one.  It had a valve similar in principle to what you drew up.  Cut-outs on the shaft instead of holes, but same principle.
  It worked well.  I would however rethink the no bearings idea, and put in some oilite bushings.  Water/steam has very poor lubrication qualities.
  Just my 2 cents worth.

So its been awhile, did the project get abandon or what??  Curious to hear what is going on.

Sorry about the delay. I decided I couldn't procede without a metal lathe so yesterday i bought a nice floor model 12x30.  So after i learn some of the basics i will attempt to make a roller valve.  i"ll post when I'm back on track.
