nicd 1.2 flooded cells
« on: June 25, 2010, 12:11:46 PM »
I just got some alcad 1.2v nicd cells and i think they have been setting for a year or two.I read that they take koh as electrolyte.

I don't know much about them.Any help on charging, mixing electrolyte etc would be appreciated.

Some read1.2v and some are under 1v.They should all be 1.2v i think these just need a charge.I will be putting 10 cells together for 12v.

Can these be charged like lead acid batteries? I read that there is a thermal runaway concern. Any help will be appreciated.

The spec sheet is here:  http://www.computroniccontrols.com/pdf/alcadxhp.pdf

It says the electrolyte should NEVER exceed 45C during charging, but don't say exactly what will happen if it does.
