mauritian wind turbine
« on: June 27, 2010, 11:22:57 AM »
hi friends,it makes so long that i havent post on fieldlines but today is a great day for me.i have finally constructed my wind genny.i thank everyone on this forum for having helped me both directly or indirectly.my special thanks goes to ghurd who has helped me a lot for its construction.frankly speaking, this wouldnt have been possible without the help i got from you guys.

i used an ametek 38vdc which i rewond with thicker wire and some 15 more turns per coil.the wind turbine max open voltage is 24v.with my battery connected,it could hardly hit 16v,but the average was 13v.the blades are from pvc 6 inch.havent measured the amps yet.

i have a simple question, from my turbine to the battery,i have used 1mm wire,is that enough or should i use thicker wire.

any comments or an idea to improve is most welcome.

i posted a video on youtube,please take a look.

now i will be planning an axial wind turbine of about 500watts.

Hi snake , it looks as though you have a nice wind site there..
Is it like that all the time?

Looks Great!

Those blades look a bit close to the tower.

thank you ghurd for your great help.in fact,i am a bit late in reading your post, this morning, there was lots of wind with gusts attaining 50km per hour, but unfortunately one of the blades hit the tower and broke.i just brought it down to do some adjustments,i think it will be fine this thursday.anyways, for a first trial,i think its not so bad ;)
