Hi, photos of new proto board layout. I added a terminal for the amp brake out connection on the power modules. The brake out location is for making current measurements at the input and is also the location of the fuse at the input. I still have to add mosfets and diodes. I should able to test in a few days.

Hi, this is the style blade I can fabricate. The C shape will have end caps.
The big question is what style will have better performance at average wind speeds? Please cast your vote, A, B, or C.

Hi, heat forming Coroplast for new blades. If you keep the heat gun in one place to long the Coroplast does melt.

Hi, I completed hub design. I drilled the threads out of a 5/8 nut and added a set screw. I then mounted the nut in a case to found a hub that I can mount to any rotor. It is low cost and solves my availability problem. What do other projects use for a hub?

Hi, I completed the first blade with modification. I have to fabricate hole templates for faster fabrication. The blade seems to have the same structural integrity. Hopefully the quality of fabrication will improve over time.

Hi, I am happy with the fabrication method and the materials being used. The large mast blade rotor bearing seem to being working well and provides structural integrity. The belt drive is adding a lot of load, the 1 to 4.25 ratio is to high for the blade size. The stock F&P can only be used if a affordable MPPT controller can be found. All the pieces to the puzzle are there I just have to find the correct combination. Reducing the belt drive ratio and finding a better blade configuration is the starting point. There are still a lot of options.

recent test results, stock F&P with 1 to 2.5 timing belt drive. Spring on pulley shaft allowed belt teeth to jump cogs on pulley. I removed the springs and I am waiting for wind to test again. I was able to repair VAWT crash.

Hi, yes the test foundation was weak, the board snapped and the VAWT came crashing down. I was watching it from inside, one moment it was fine I turned around and it was gone.

This project is a learning experience.

All fixed now and waiting for wind.
