Changing voltage of 12' Home Brew?
« on: February 11, 2011, 08:19:29 AM »
My stator is 24 volt now and I am planning on a grid tie connection with Aurora 6K. They have a 50 volt min. I would like to wind mine for 72 volt. My stator was made with 16 Gage, 4 in hand, 35 wraps.

What Gage and how many wraps do you think I should use. The fact it is 3 X my current voltage should make it easy. I would guess at one in hand, 15 Gage, 105 wraps.

I am going to make it with vacuum bag method.

I will post pics.

I Sure Do appreciate the help.

Thanks Larry

If 72v cut in is ok for the inverter and it can handle about 300v at full load then your suggestion seems ok. You need 1/3 of the original wire csa.

Using 1 strand of 16 awg would be 1/4 csa so you can go thicker than that Probably your 15awg is near but I haven't checked the figure.
