Max temp? I don't know, but he has it figured he can get 40G up to "hot enough".
I expect he'd like to get to at least 125F.
If it does better, then they won't need to fire up the coal that day.
If it does get to 125F, then a few saw mill cut offs will get it up to hot enough in the evening before showers.
The ebay pump doesn't look like it can deal with 50PSI in a closed system.
More info.
In the winter, the DWH flows through the coal furnace. The stove is the furnace.
In summer it is made by a coal water heater, which only needs a small bit of coal (coal is a PITA) if its only needed for 30 minutes.
In summer, a big pot of hot water with a coal fire in the center is not so great when its 85F outside. It is the short round thing.

If it helps, but can't get up to warm enough, then a few sticks of kindling will get the water past 140F in short order.

Thats about what I was thinking for permanent use.
Let me make sure he can get the box finished up and plumbed in for a test pretty quickly. Otherwise, we'll miss the sun for this year, and it won't be back until maybe late April...
Unless you mean burrow it for 8 months?
In 8 months it would only get a few days use.
Thanks guy, and keep the ideas coming.
