Double stuff Cordless drill paks.
« on: August 08, 2011, 11:56:15 PM »
I have yet to really test the 14.4  x 2.6 cordless drill paks that I have made,
as I am now making the containers for them hopefully they will be very sturdy.

The new container will be 2x taller as in the 2nd one, since it holds twice as many
cells.
I'm making the top and bottom of 5/8 inch plywood.
I suppose these could also be used for running small 12 volt inverters
if you don't charge them to their limit.
I tried one on 12 volt inverter but at 16+voltage the inverter said HI

More detailed pics as I progress.
Norm.

That drill will be a bit bottom heavy. I did that with a Makita drill I had that used some odd size nicad. Just cut and splice.

I had a friend who had a "semi cordless' set up with a cord and a bigger box that held about 6 normal batteries.  Only he had about 70 6v surplus NiCd packs to play with.

I really liked the thread title too.  It's making me hungry... watch out Oreos.

Just a bit only a bit .....only 8 cells heavier than a 19.2 cordless drill.
In my case these are a lot cheaper than replacing the old NiCads with NiMHs.
Anyhow will let you guys know how they turn out.
Fun project...and other uses for the DoubleStuff drill pak
Like 8 would run a 24 or 36 volt E-bike ?
Couple of them to power a Treadmill motor on a cordless fan.
