I have a 42' tower and I use a hand-cranked winch in order to raise it. For those with towers 50' and higher, what are you using?

Hi,
I use the winch on the front of my old 20 year old Land Rover, sometimes however I just use the Land Rover in 1st low with the diffs locked never had a problem since I started using this method. I use to use the el-cheapo 12v winches from ebay but I had a couple of scares with them.

Here's what I'm planning on using. Look at the pictures in post 3. It's a 10,000# winch on a hitch receptacle. I can take it in out of the weather and use it on my truck for other projects. When I need to winch the tower I just put it in place and pull up a vehicle or battery for power.

We've raised and lowered ours with our trashy old Blazer several times.

I don't remember which episode it was but we did make an important realisation, keep the chain tied with bailing wire! If the hook on the chain came off, geese
Happy erecting

I use a Tirfor winch for mine (OK Chinese copy), careful control and easy to use.
