Snowstorm Monika hit my windfarm.
« on: December 21, 2010, 05:04:52 AM »
Greetings from Estonia,

I've been reading this board(old one too) for years.
This was my set up:
http://fieldlines.com/board/index.php/topic,129779.0.html
Now it is modified:
Both have about 3m diametre blades.
" alt="" class="bbc_img" />
Half of tail lost.
Second one start spinning freely and fast, not making power any more.

More pictures:

As You can see stator holding failed. Unbelievable forces, metal just can brick as ice. It was cold too about -10 degrees Celsus and high wind.
And it happened after 3 years of uptime.

Sorry to see this.

At least you got 3 good years from it!

Wind has astounding power when it gets rolling.

Maybe Stainless steel ready rod next time?

Good luck getting it replaced / repaired.

So sorry to hear, i know how it feels. Tomas passed through here a few weeks ago.and mine survived. 4 days ago in taking mine down the lift cable released, fell 40 ft to the ground and was destroyed

Winter is hard on little turbines here, too.  I hope you don't get discouraged!
No one believes the theory except the one who developed it. Everyone believes the experiment except the one who ran it.
System spec: 135w BP multicrystalline panels, Xantrex C40, DIY 10ft (3m) diameter wind turbine, Tri-Star TS60, 800AH x 24V AGM Battery, Xantrex SW4024

At least my genny didn't fall down.
Blade set is usable and hub too, I hope.
Considering of having mechanical brake on machines without furling system.
I've seen wind anemometers with relay output. It can swich on mechanical brakes on high winds some how.
Maybe someone has allready done this?
And going to use thicher bolts next time.
I've seen failure of 3 bolt stator fix many times here, I had 5 but it was still not enough.
Considering of having 6 on next big 4 metre diametre machine in future.

Looks to me as if the All thread sheered off .You'd have to go a size larger and watch the vibration .
I made a Vibration  detector from a peizo Glued to the mech as the vibration got more intense the would turn on a 555 that squealed a n alarm

Hi, margusten

Since you have a need to do some modifications in you turbine, I have an idea that Works fine, you can increase the strength of the magnets, just add another magnet glued in front the others you have.

You will have a heavy rotor but that´s no problem; you just need to find another 12 microwaves.

I'm doing this and I have 48 magnets with the same size.

If you do this you can change your stator and do the coils with less turns and heavy copper wire. And a few more amps
