Pretty neat tilt tower picture
« on: January 13, 2011, 12:09:39 PM »
My neighbor just sent me a picture of the raising of my Jacobs from back in September.  He was out in the woods walking with his kids this fall and noticed it going up.  I've always wondered how much it was above the trees.

That looks impressive.  I would love to climb that tower, I miss climbing.  The view is breath taking.  Curious too how high is it?

Careful saying things like that, it's January.  Fate may see to it, soon, that you need to climb a tower (since you miss climbing so much).
Reaching the top on a bleak sub-zero day to un-stick an iced-over rotor, you will curse your own words!

I'm not superstitious, but I'm careful not to invoke powers greater than me (such as Murphy's law).   ;)

The tower is 140' and the turbine is a late 30's or 40's 1800 watt DC voltage Jake I restored this past summer.  The tower was originally built for a Breezy 5.5, but that's a whole nother story.

WOW! 140 feet and it tilts up! Awesome! There is no explanation necessary on the breezy, we've heard em all.

Cool picture Tom.

Looks like you got 30' minimum above anything within 500' covered, nicely done!

How did you get it up?  A truck or a ground-based wench?

You can be forgiven.  Most of us get excited when photos of a big erection get passed around.

(Sorry it's an old joke by now)
