Not to be too offensive , but reading and Googling is a pretty good way to start.

Next, please be a little more specific about what you are asking for.
Give us what you have, what you want to do, and your skill levels.

This will go a long way in getting better answers..

There's years worth, on the top left side there is the search function use that for now, please.
Others may chime in BUT you will get tons of reading by using the search function.

Cheers

To optimize passive solar heat Large south facing windows,
overhanging roof to shade in the summer....thick dark ceramic tile
to absorb the heat.

any reflective serface will help. sunlight reflecting off the river on the south side of my house  adds a lot of heat in the early morning.

This completely depends on where you live in the world... In Canada our southern windows provide the best radiant heat because during the winter months the sun is lower in the sky and during mid day, also when it feels its warmest, the sun shines in your southern windows, During summer the sun is to high in the sky and does not affect our cooling applications. Eastern and western windows will provide radiant heat all year round however you need to deal with blocking the radiant heat in the summer for cooling purposes.

If your designing a home and location also consider wind direction and tree lines to block it.
