Charging battery issue
« on: May 02, 2012, 11:58:58 AM »
Maybe Ghurd can help me with this? I need a way to bump my solar PV output up to 12.5-13.5 Volts. It puts out 7 volt now. Amperage is 8 amp.

Important project, can anyone help? Do the MPPT off-the-shelf units output this way?

There are any number of boost converters that you can use. Other than the max output of 8Amps .
How much of a charging rate do you need?
Is this one large panel?
How big is your battery bank? 12Vdc ???Ahr

Variable on charging rate depending on weather and sun.
3 panels are going to be used.

Sounds a little strange, are you looking at the 12V 5Ahr Li packs?
The type of battery makes a pretty big difference for charging rate and max voltage.
Can you let us know what type of battery you'll be using.?
WE can then make sure the battery gets fully charged without cooked 8Amps is a lot.  ;D
