Building wind turbines at Scoraig in May
« on: April 16, 2011, 06:00:46 AM »
This is just to announce that there are still places in the wind turbine building workshop that I will be hosting next month between 14th and 21st May here at Scoraig.

It's really the best workshop of the year, since we will be a small group and working among a whole lot of homebuilt wind systems on the Scoraig peninsula.  Wednesday is a day off when we do a tour and maybe some hands on work on existing systems here.

If you want to see some previous workshops I have some Youtube videos here:

and here is one of a tour of Scoraig windmills in 2010

and here is a map of how to get here:

I wish I could go.  Maybe next year, it sounds like loads of fun and lot's of stuff to learn.  I hope it happens and look forward to hearing about how it went down!!
If I ever figure out what's in the box then maybe I can think outside of it.

Yes it is definitely happening, athough the numbers are probably going to be less than usual. So we may have to cut some corners and use existing moulds and stuff like that.

We are also welcoming Michael Lawley of Ecoinnovation New Zealand as guest of honour for a day or two.  Check out his web site if you have not been there!

I am sooo envious of those whom get to attend. Why is attendance down, Hugh? Global, local economies in the toilet?

Its a mystery to me.  I have been doing these courses for ten years and each year it was about seven people which is fine.  Then for two years the numbers doubled and I had to lay on two courses.  Last year I had to cancel one of the two courses and just held one again.  This year has been very quiet indeed.

It's funny - I hardly get anyone from the UK a the Scoraig course.  It's very international.  But maybe just too expensive for the travelling.  And of course there is the cost to the environment of all that jet travel.  So maybe it's good if it winds down a bit.
