No Gold Watch.... Something better.
« on: October 07, 2011, 09:16:34 AM »
Well, after a long time in limbo, my retirement from Admin duty here has become official.

I guess I was on some kind of reverse probation until I was sure I wanted to bail out permanently.

Well, I did and I have.

My follow up request to have my status changed was granted yesterday!

No more restrictions on my right to opinions because I was an Admin. I haven't really done much admin type work here for a good while but still had the rank which apparently removes your right to an opinion as a side effect?

Its been a pleasure to help keep things going here and I wish the best of luck to Kurt and the moderators in keeping it afloat.

Thanks for all the memories!

Still here as a member until they either ban me or I go for the dirt nap.

Tom

TomW;
Could you resend the mods manual. I couldn't find in mine where they repealed the 1st amendment  ;D.
Thanks for ALL the PMs keeping me from "pushing" the envelope.
I would've been honored to have been in your squad as a subordinate NCO. AND covering my post while I said the long goodbye to another fellow DAV'er.

I had not really considered that big of a demotion.  ;D

Probably should, but they go by post count so I would have to surrender a few thousand posts to unqualify as it were.

I always heard you should quit while you are ahead of the game and I think I am / did. My sweat is blended into the concrete of the foundations here like many others and I have no regrets other than I should have demanded a better contract with medical and dental in the beginning.

Tom,

I'm someone who has regularly visited and cotributed to this board, have conspicuously avoided the poltics, but have thoroughly enjoyed the format and exchange of ideas.  I don't know what it is like to moderate something like this, but I can only imagine there are some trials with all of us being so sure of our opinions.

Thanks for your efforts at keeping this thing organized and largely civil.  I hope you'll continue to post here.

For those that don't know.
TomW harkens back to the first website. This is #3.
TomW, whatever happened to the original website? there was tons of real-world info on there that I used to refer back to.

It was archived in a read only form for awhile but not sure anymore. It takes effort and a touch of skill to keep those kind of archives.

It could be on the wayback machine?

At one time I had a dump of all the first sites posts but long ago and not archived.

It still says "Super Hero Member" under your name.

And you earned every one of the 7 gold stars pinned to your avatar's lapel.

Thanks for all the guidance over the years. You deserve a well earned rest.

Will be good to have you down amongst us peasants...... now you can get to tease the admins too.

If the owners paid as much attention to this site as you, it would have made your life easier, and this site better...... I don't know how you laboured under such conditions........ but at least the pay was stable I guess.

All the best with retirement, and long may it last.
