What to do with a 42cc 2 cycle motor
« on: October 15, 2011, 12:13:06 PM »
I recenlty bought a new chainsaw to replace my poulan pro 42cc (numerous issues with it). However the motor is still good. I hate to just toss the whole thing.

I know I can pull the motor out, rework the fuel lines etc.

But I have no idea what I would do with it, figure may 2HP. Some kind of gen... on 2 cycle ... not fond of that.

Anyone else have any ideas?

Silly question, but do you have FreeCycle or the equivalent in your area if all else fails?

If by FreeCycle... you mean a a recyling center that would take it off my hands not really...

Besides I don't want to just discard it.. rather find a use for it.

FYI.. freecycle around here probably means putting it on the street the day of trash day where the local population runs through the neighborhood seeing if you have anything tossed they might want... be amazed what gets taken (broken lawn furniture, anything metal etc)

I meant freecycle.org (or some equivalent) where people will come and collect usable stuff from you rather than having it end up in landfill.  I find it a therapeutic alternative to hoarding!

Grin...DamonHD

Closet thing we have is called a flea market.. course they hoard too...

Nope I'm looking for an application..

Tritium, yep the big RC plane was actually dicussed.... way to complex. Besides we are not allowed to fly RC planes in my neighborhood. (something to do with big navy air stations etc)

Go to the "Do-it-yourself" board.

http://motorbicycling.com/

You should also find out if they're even legal in your area first.  My bike is a great way to take care of short, light errands and gets 120 mpg.  That's with a 48 cc 2-cycle engine.
