SMD electrolytic capacitor identificaion
« on: December 20, 2011, 05:16:33 PM »
Description:-

Aluminium can, about 5 mm diameter x 5 mm tall, polarised (neg & pos), Black half moon on top to denote negative side ---

the following letters     10        16S      2FD

I am trying to identify the voltage and MFD value.

My guess so far (despite going through many Google PDF's in vain) 10  = volts;     16S = supplier/production family?       2FD = 2 micro farads or 2.2 microfarad's.

Any better guesses from anyone would be viewed with interest.

The capacitor belongs to a computer insertable board for Pinnacle software.

Regards,

David in HK

Electrolytic capacitors typically have 3 ratings, voltage temperature and capacitance.
Possibly what you read as "16S" is actually "165"   Either 165 V or 165 degreesC rating...
However the capacitors on a board that I happen to have within reach all have "105C" temperature rating and it would take a rather different design to achieve 165C, I bet.

Just trying to expand the search possibilities.  Good luck.
No one believes the theory except the one who developed it. Everyone believes the experiment except the one who ran it.
