Looking for Blue Sky vs Morning Star, comments please
« on: December 30, 2011, 04:45:14 PM »
Hey all

I'm picking out another MPPT controller, I have one blue sky (2512)... which I like a lot better than the BZ ( BZ MPPT250HV 25A,12V ) which I also have, I have  2 arrays, the array on the BZ is about to go from 200W to 600 W so I have to get another controller.

For  the new array I'm thinking of the Blue Sky Solar Boost 50DL , as opposed to a Morningstar ts MPPT 45... consideration are price and I just like Blue Sky

Use Xantrax 60 amp x 3 here, no fan just a big heat sink.

Thanks Allan,

But, this array is not going to be larger than 600W @ 12V panels . So I nixed that earlier....

if it were me, i'd go morningstar in a second.  i am a big fan of their controllers, and come to think of it, i've never heard anything bad about them either.

iirc, the ts mppt series controllers are the most efficient off grid mppt controllers out there.  there's a LONG thread here-

http://www.wind-sun.com/ForumVB/showthread.php?4751-Rogue-MPT-3024&highlight=rogue+mppt

about a smaller company making mppt controllers, but i think mid thread they start talking about efficiency and how the ts-mppts rule it.  worth a read!!!
