solar attic pool heating
« on: April 29, 2012, 07:37:30 PM »
This is probably not the right subforum as this is for solar electricity, but maybe some of you will have an opinion.

I would like to know if anyone has pumped water into coils to exchange heat from the attic to heat pool water? I know these systems exist, but wanted to know if anyone had an opinion if these systems work.

They work.
Pump 60F water through coils in 150F space, and the water gets warmer.

However.
The 150F coils get cooler than ambiant.
The moistire condenses on the coils.
The coils drip.

Dripping water in the attic insulation is not a good idea.

Deal with the condensed water, and it could be very cost effective.
