Hi to you all, lotsa questions for u brainy nuts :)
« on: June 04, 2012, 05:54:56 AM »
Hey ya
Im building 2 prototypes based on the VAWT design, i like the slow spinning low noise concept and would like ur input on how much to load it up as in coil windings. Gona use N42 grade magnets, 12 pure plate X2 over a 9 coil 3 phase configuration. Sweep area of 1500 diameter and wings 1200 high.
im going for 25 volt and wotever the amps, im not sure.. but im gona have 2 gens, 2nd one kicks in at 10 to 15km winds.
Ground breaking i know, dont turn on the brakes in high wind, load it up !! :)
Why didnt u brain nuts think of this ??

Cheers

all those brain nuts built horizontal windmills, 'cause they are making more power per swept area.
only a few brain nuts (like me ) make  vertical mills
what units are the dimensions you give, mm, inches, feet,?

i second that vertical mills are more difficult to pulls watts from the wind!

unloaded rpms in various wind speeds would help a lot as per PMA recommendations.

also, what type of VAWT are you building?  there are a few different types...  varying mostly on "blade" design.

Glad tp meet u guys  :)
Thought i was the only 1 who was mad. cheers for the vawt !! the dimensions are in mills, but we could make it inches if u want ?. lol. 2.4 diameter sweep area and 2.4 high wings, that wld be cool to see. :)

Im going the old skool fat wings for the prototypes, until i can work out the clutch and second gen to slow it down.
Wot sota stuff u guys up 2 ??

Hi, I have been working on a VAWT and I have been doing a lot of experimenting with different PMAs.

They are doing a lot of VAWT projects at the Windgen forum.

I hope this helps
