Evalution question
« on: June 04, 2012, 11:25:14 AM »
1st-  the usual-  I am not selling, not do I make any money off these.   I am not endorsing, not telling that these are good.

I am looking for opinions on this set up-  the tech, etc.

as a secondary question- Is this as logical as it sounds,  or just good marketing?

Westinghouse Solar  Selling packages via Lowes-  The panels come with Enphase and railings already attached.

They come in kits,  with panels, wires, and mounts.

I'll move this to the REVIEWS sections you'll get more input from there.

I would be a little curious about the costs.
I'm also curious why they are including a 240Vac connecter.
I'll need to do a little more reading before attempting this.
The strange part is the link to Lowes isn't working though  ;)

Yes,  not encouraging-
gotta love google though

4 pack  235 watt AC  with hardware  3161.22    (940 watts   / 3161= ~3.36/ watt)
20pack   235 watt AC with hardware 12,774.28   (4700 watts   /12774.28=~  2.71/watt)

Envoy module  I see 2 price  512 and 747..... confusing

I also found this link that lists the panels in a pack set
 http://www.illianapower.com/firm.html
Am I that far out of touch with the real world or is a price of over $ 18K for a kit with 20 of those panels real?
Last summer while in Spain I saw some similar panels without all of the extras for 90 Euros each I may be comparing apples to bananas here as  I did not write down their specs but the panels I looked at were about 2 feet by 4 feet maybe 100 watt size  And I thought they were high

Overpriced, can find panels for $1 a watt and the Enphase inverters for ~$240

So then the panels that I saw in Spain if they were quality panels for 90 euro would not have been very far off.

Not defending Lowes, or Westinghouse,  but lets look at the math
20 pack of 235 watts= 4700 watts   so thats   4000.00- 4800.00
20 enphase modules  at 240 each is                4800.00
so your example is at 9600.00    so far, without mounting, grounding or shipping.

The 12,744.00 includes mounting, grounding, free pick up at store.  Buy with Lowes card, get 637.00 off- so at 12,100.00.

TY for the link-  it appears to be the same stuff at other site-   but it is certainly more expensive there...

The points that intrigue me
Panels are pre-assembled with inverters and railings.
Thier quote   "80% fewer parts to assemble"
Uses micro inverters so can start small and grow.
Company that has been around forever-  mot likely to go away before my warranty ends.
