Hi all, I have been working on a project to build a small generator out of a spin bike that I ride at home.
I have the strong magnets, however they are quite small (about the size of a dime, but twice as thick) so I need to build some small coils.
Anyway, I need to know how many turns to put on each coil to get about 24-30 volts. I will then rectify it as usual. I have 400 feet of 24 awg green magnet wire. (I hope this will work!)
If the first two coils work, and I get a voltage then I will simply build 2 more coils and wire them in parallel to keep the 24 volts using a 2nd rectifier. I might even build a 3rd to see if I can still keep the thing moving with more load..
Can anyone chime in, PS: This is my very first generator build.
( I have a 24-36v grid tie inverter with a dump-load connection that I will be connecting to the generator) ...
