Ametek 99vdc
« on: March 21, 2013, 04:54:38 AM »
Hello
just brought a ametek 99vdc motor
Has anybody used one of these motors for making a turbine
?
As it is so very hard to spin the spindle
Compared to other motors I have used

I think it would need a huge set of blades to get it turning ???
Any Ideas please from any one

Thank you :-)

It should spin fairly easily.
Is it making grinding, or clcking, sounds?
Does it spin one way easier than the other?

They are 30 years old.  It could be a sticky or worn out bearing.

If it was disassembled, it could be the bearings are not seated properly in the caps.

Obviously, the wires should not be connected to each other, or an ammeter, while trying to spin it.
