Wave power
« on: December 19, 2013, 06:33:02 AM »
I've come up with a way to harness wave power with a simple devise that could be mounted to an outrigger off the side of a boat, peir or buey. It will use an automotive syle alternator and cost about $400.

What do people here think about the size of the market for this???

I would have to invest alot into the manufacturing. If the volume isn't high enough it wouldn't be worth it.

Tell me what you think?

Paul

I just don't see the mechanics working out for a car alternator.

If you can sell this device for $400 and it has decent output and reliability sign me up for one.
If it costs $400 to build it would have to retail for about $2000.
Need to see some real world test results.

You might google search this forum.
There was a guy on here around 2009 I think, he did just the same thing.
His was not built around a car alt, though his I believe was a specifically wound unit taking the best from HAWT ideas.
Best of Luck, let us know you're designs.

Hello, I find this topic very interesting. Harvesting wave energy is something that I am interested in since my college years in ocean engineering. Do you have more information or a blog about this design?

Paul, could you give us an update of your WEC system ?
Do you have any real world test results, etc.

I am very interested in your project.
