Attic HX for winter heating in southern climates
« on: March 17, 2014, 03:29:04 AM »
Does anyone have good links for collecting attic heat and recycling it back to the house?  I realize that if I have to run the heater at night it means the attic has cooled off.  But I was surprised that during the daylight hours even in FL the temperature in the house can be low 70's yet the attic is unbearably warm.  I'm thinking the same idea could be used to preheat hot water during the insanely warm summers.  This all accomplished without painting my roof white.  My wife still doesn't like the idea of a white roof, so I'm still looking at stealthy ways to be green.

there are ceramic roof coating that reject heat and can be many colors, though it's not cheap!

a loop of pipe could be put in the attic and circulate water though it and an insulated storage tank to be used later.

you should look at http://builditsolar.com/

many great ideas there!
