« on: September 16, 2015, 11:49:39 AM »
Hello all ...

Im looking for flat fiberglass wick ...3/4" or so ..... that does not have 20$ shipping ....

Sure iv found a source for some @ 2.50$ for the wick .. and shipping was almost 20$ .....

Not sure if in your area you have a dollar store or one called Big Lots, but I get two for $1 :).
Dollar apiece if you want one's that are long enough to fit to bottom of wine bottle.
Hope this helps

eBay lists over 80. Most are about $8 including shipping for about 5 feet of wick.

CQ Mike, .... ..  .... ..

Check out these Kevlar wicks (aramid & fiberglass). Looks to be quality stuff with normal shipping charges.

dnix1 .... im looking for wicks that are not cotton ...

Up for auction are replacement Cotton Wicks an oil or kerosene lamp.  The wicks are new, never used, and are 8 inches long. These USA-made wicks are superior to those made elsewhere due to the way they are manufactured. Special double-sewn construction makes these domestic cotton wicks tighter, cleaner burning, and longer-lasting than cheaply made wicks. These are great for any oil or kerosene lamp collector since many of these lamps are bought with missing wicks.

ill check the rest of the links .... cotton wicks are common all over the place ... that kevlar link looked promising ...

Can you believe that what i wanted -- fiberglass -- has cheaper delivery than some one in the USA ? .... (from the other side of the planet)

tottal 2.36$ USD for 1' .... i just want to test it out .... with an oil that's not commonly used..... well yet.

5 pieces by 8 inches, from China $11 shipped.

If you search for "rope" instead of "wick" you get a few listings for gasket seals made of fiberglass and impregnated with graphite. I don't know if those would wick properly, but fiberglass wicks that size seem to have a dual use.
