Charging Prius ni-mh cells
« on: October 03, 2015, 11:40:04 AM »
Hi All,

Just helped my buddy locate two bad batteries in his Prius, saving him a lot of dough. Now I have two cells that still have some life. Both are 7.2 volt, ni-mh cells. Can I tie them together in series and use a 12V car charger if I stick a current limiting resistor? Or does anyone else have suggestions for charging?

Thaks!

Jonathan

They need to be compressed. They will expand from gassing and be ruined otherwise.

Good to know. I'm looking into that. I'm just using these for some little project, like maybe an LED light in my outhouse. It's getting dark early. So I just need an easy way to charge 'em up a little, not wring every watt out of 'em.

Thanks!
