College transcripts
« on: December 10, 2018, 02:15:19 PM »
I pulled my college transcripts last week, I received the confirmation that they had found them and were sending them to me.

In collage I was missing one class to get my degree, very frustrating since I would have to go back for a full semester. Im doing something now to document my activity's. and submitting them for possible credit. Im going to mention that I own this forum maybe get some credit for that as well, we'll see. I will list my re-certified ASE master tech certification that spans over 20 years, and being a ASE advanced level specialist. Also I have over ten years as a Process Engineer for an alloy wheel re-manufacturer. I was also awarded three US utility patents, automotive related.

JW document as much of your work history as possible include any and all awards, certificates, accommodations citations and so forth which you have received over the years.
My university even took into account my Military schools and classes I attended.
When I was much younger I was a credit bagger. especially while I was in the ARMY I wasn't nearly as interested at the time in any degree as I was the particular classes or coursed offered from the various colleges and universities where ever I happened to be stationed.
Bagging credits usually do little towards a degree  back then since it normally required at least 12 to 16 hours  before any accreditation transcript would be considered transferable.
However times have changed somewhat and many universities now realize work histories are usually more educating than class room, lecture hall or lab work.
I live so far outside of the box, when I die they will stretch my carcass over the coffin

Hi Frank,

The transcripts are from the University that I attended, I passed all the classes with the exception of a "shop floor" class. My experience should cover this, hoping... In order to become ASE certified you have to have 2 years documented work experience  whereas ASE will only give 1 year work experience from the collage regardless how long you attended. Once I left collage I had the two years work experience for ASE. I promptly took all 8 ASE tests and passed as a certified master tech passing all 8 at once which is rare.

Here is a new post I made with another Ferris graduate

I received conformation that my Ferris collage transcripts are located.and being sent to me. One other thing worth noting is that I was a process engineer for an automotive alloy wheel re-manufacturer(for over ten years). I built these huge lathes that have a 24in swing and were constructed by me. there were 3 total with 30hp direct drive (belt) and spun about 850 rpm. I learned from old timers on how to calibrate the NULL of the dual axis hydraulic tracers. Also I used ladder logic to program the PLC which returned the tracer to start position.(also built in safety interlocks) I also assembled the drawbar air chuck  to 12in chuck dia with tongue and groove master soft jaws, these are multi-step pie jaws. The run out was .010 concentrically and the wheel could be in the jaws and closed in 1 second then spun up instantly. I also showed how to rebuild quartz heaters to dry the clear-coat on the rims. Then I later refitted the template machine with an air turbine (for making the pattern for tracer pin to follow). And then I was a aluminium TIG welder and trained new users. There's more but I don't want to hijack this thread anymore, sorry for the rant. .

I'm two DSST exams and a public speaking waiver (I had one credit and requirement is three) from a degree from Charter Oak State College.  All "finishing up the distribution requirements" stuff.  Core is all finished (and all aced).

Another good choice might have been Thomas Edison in New York.  But when I decided to finish up a sheepskin, Charter Oak still accepted the Computer Science GRE for credit and Thomas Edison had not had enough applicants using it to do the work to keep it qualified vs. their standards.

Those are two accredited schools that do practical online courses.  (It's SO much easier to do the coursework on my time rather than the draft board's schedule during the Viet Nam adventiure.)

Online higher education has been promised since the deployment of the Internet.  But now it's finally practical.
