Mary B:
wiring the remote to it won't work, might be cheap enough to get a $1-2 IR receiver off ebay and just use the IR transistor off of it...https://www.ebay.com/itm/5PCS-KY-022-37-9KHz-Infrared-IR-Sensor-Receiver-Module-For-Arduino-AVR-PIC-NK/163471595029?hash=item260faa9615:g:E14AAOSwWI5cMdK1:rk:51:pf:0

I have no problem getting that.  Would need help,  diagram to install it.  Are there ratings on these or are they universal ?   Can the one be left at the panels and another one be added to the  wire in the house ?   I know nothing about this.  HELP

frackers:
Not all IR receivers are the same!
They operate at a fixed carrier frequency, usually one of 38KHz, 40KHz or 56KHz and they have inbuilt filters that can affect the maximum bit rate (I know the TSOP34156 for example can handle 4kb/s data but that's about it!!).

Mary B:
Yeah it is goin to be potluck getting the right one... unless there is a number on the bad part...

ontfarmer:
Here is the number  4844S on the other side KU
