resistive load
« on: June 20, 2017, 08:33:19 PM »
Hi, need a little help.  I have a Gurd controller and have on hand 8 X 1ohm 100watt cheap metal clad resistore I wish to use for now.  Staying within the limits of this controller using the two fets what would be my best setup.

Not the best choice of resistors. Personally I don't like that style.

Make 2 banks of 4 resistors in series, for 4 Ohm's total per bank.
That will be about 3.6 A per bank (52w total per bank).
Then use one mosfet per bank. And keep the heat sinks separate. No need for a heat sink, because 3.6A won't get the get hot.

Keep the MOSFETs tabs isolated from anything electrical.

THX Gurd for your info.  I will get a better dump load for the second circuit that I got from you ;D
