New power point heater near testing
« on: January 16, 2018, 03:24:36 PM »
If I could just get some sun I could test this. 3525 inverter based board, not ideal, just a concept for non micro based power pv point water heating.  Slowed down to about 1.2ms it is 50% 0N and 50% OFF with enough OFF time to extinguish arc. Dead time is not easily changed with this board. With only half power max, it is targeted for higher voltage operation and mechanical switches.  Latching shutdown is disabled which allows on board opto isolator tobe used with electronic temperature control.  Then two FET can be paralleled for nearly 100% duty cycle for lower voltage elements.  A TL494 design will be tried in about three weeks. Everything except power FET easily fits on a convenient NANO breakout board with screw terminals for a nice look.
