As the geometry is made rather course, some inaccuracy will be created when the sawing marks are removed with sand paper. A total different way of making tapered wooden wind turbine blades is used by the Dutch company E. A. Z. Wind. They have calculated the blade geometry and then programmed a special milling machine which cuts this geometry very accurately. They supply a direct drive 3-bladed wind turbine with a rotor diameter of 12 m mainly for use by farmers.
