Strong wind recently
« on: March 22, 2019, 04:10:23 AM »
We had strong wind and My tallest wind tower didn't survive.
First tube bended from top and then top fasteners loose.
There was also rope fasteners, it just broke.

Is it possible repairing the mast and attaching the upper guying wires a bit higher?

Do be careful.  That looks precarious at best.  Hopefully it hasn't come to the ground?

What size turbine is it?  What size/schedule pipe?  ~ks

What were you using for guy wire?

Speaking from experience TV antenna guy wire isn't even fit for a TV antenna! Rope is a major no-no also.

That will be a dicey maneuver to be lowered to the ground, too.  Plan carefully and seek help if needed!  :(
No one believes the theory except the one who developed it. Everyone believes the experiment except the one who ran it.

Maybe he can get wind to blow it back upright!

In all seriousness, I hope you save it.

Hi,

Yes these 2 Turkey made windgens are nonfurling. Second one's blades cut down automatically, hitting the tower.
I made them longer by adding some aluminium. But seems this was not good idea. 2.2 M diametre originally.
3-d windgenerator has furling, 2 wooden blades 3M diametre. Oldest one, still working.
But Most of electricity comes from solar panels, connected to grid. I've seen 4600W.
This rope thing was translation mistake.
Of course more like TV antenna guy wire. Too thin - this was major mistake.

Hi from the pictures i see a few things in error if the color coding is where the tower is joined, reinforcement and the guy wires at that joint, and top guy wires no lower than a foot from blade tip. The many failures i've had  taught me  many things about guy towers . Mine is only 55 Plus feet, 1st 20 feet   3 inch. remainder 2 inch welded and sleeved and guyed at the sleeve.   Hope your repairs turned out ok

Now this thing successfully landed. Wings in good shape.
Weather was grate and 2 winches landed this slowly.
All this trouble caused by broken welded nail.

And second windgenerator cut plastic wings down automatically by hitting tower.
Only problem was sharp edges and loud whistles heard.
